At Carter Academy, the primary goal of our music program is to foster a lifelong love and appreciation for music in every student. We provide engaging and creative opportunities for students to explore the fundamentals of music, including melody, rhythm, form, dynamics, pitch, tempo, meter, and harmony. Music students also participate in performance opportunities through their Fiesta Friday groups. Additionally, our 5th-grade students receive instruction in both vocal music and the recorder—a woodwind instrument that helps prepare them for participation in band during middle school. They will also learn about future opportunities to join Band, Choir, or Orchestra as they transition into middle school, helping them make informed choices about their musical path.
